House Republican, Representative Mike Johnson of Lousiana has just been elected the new speaker of the United States House of Representatives. This followed weeks of uncertainty and chaos following the impeachment and removal of Kevin McCarthy as Speaker.

By this election, Mike Johnson who has already been sworn in becomes third in line of the US presidency. Johnson, an election denier is a known MAGA Republican who voted against the certification of the election of Joe Biden as President. It remains to be seen if his election will see him acknowledge President Biden as the legitimate Commander-in-Chief of the United States of America or that Donal Trump lost the 2020 presidential election.
